Welcome to our International audience Ramm Botanicals is the world's leading breeder and marketer of Anigozanthos plant varieties, known commonly as kangaroo paws. Our plant breeding program is directed by Angus Stewart, who has been dedicated to the project for 25 years. We are now producing outstanding kangaroo paw hybrids which are exported to many markets including U.S.A., Canada, Europe, Japan, South Africa and Israel. We breed our kangaroo paws for improved pot and garden performance, increased disease tolerance, better natural branching, repeat flowering nature, neater upright foliage and, of course, wonderful flower colours. Kangaroo paws are known for their fuss-free performance and low water requirements in temperate to Mediterranean climates.
All kangaroo paws are not the same. We actually breed to satisfy five different categories:
Each of these categories demands a different breeding approach, so our kangaroo paw breeding is really five projects in one. Generally though, our aim is to breed plants that branch more freely to produce more flowers that bloom earlier and then repeat flower. Our other breeding objectives include selection of tougher plants that require little maintenance and less water, plus we also breed for increased disease tolerance. In 2007, we announced the release of no less than six kangaroo paws. These varieties are being tested in all major markets with our most exciting release of the year, Bush Diamond, already exciting distributors around the world. Bush Diamond, pictured here with Angus, is the world's first compact white paw, and like the best diamonds, this plant has a tinge of pink in the cooler months of the year when flower colour is at its most intense. There are many more varieties under trial and test in our export markets, including some fantastic Brachyscomes, Australia's native daisy. See the Pacific series Brachyscomes in the DownUnder Wonders section. For details of our kangaroo paw distributor in your region, please contact ramm@ramm.com.au
