Dianella caerulea ‘DCMP02’ 'IMPROVED' Little Jess

Little Jess™ Dianella caerulea ‘DCMP01’ PBR, part of the trusted Ozbreed range, is a next-generation improvement of one of Australia’s most beloved grasses for landscape use. Already a favourite in commercial and residential settings, this upgraded variety offers enhanced frost, flood, and humidity tolerance, as well as better performance in containers and after cutbacks—making it an even more versatile and durable choice for modern landscaping needs.

Compact and symmetrical, Little Jess™ grows to approximately 450mm high and wide, forming a neat, clumping habit ideal for mass plantings, mixed borders, and biodiverse native landscapes. With its improved genetics, this Dianella cultivar is especially suitable for projects that demand long-term resilience with minimal maintenance, such as roadside plantings, public spaces, and garden designs.

Thriving in full sun to part shade, Little Jess™ adapts well to a wide range of soils, from sandy loams to heavy clays, and tolerates periodic flooding, drought, and frost. It’s best planted at a density of 3–8 plants per m², or 2–3 per linear metre, depending on the level of coverage desired.

This Ozbreed selection performs best with good establishment care—regular watering and feeding in spring using organic or balanced NPK fertilisers. To maintain its tidy appearance, it benefits from pruning to half height every 2–8 years (more frequent in gardens, less often in roadside settings).
