Lomandra fluviatilis ‘LM380’ Shara Blue

Shara Blue™ Lomandra, bred by Ozbreed, is a standout option among Australian grasses, offering an exceptional combination of ornamental beauty and hardy performance for a wide range of landscape applications. With its clean, striking blue foliage and high resilience, Shara Blue™ is an ideal choice for designers seeking both function and aesthetics in challenging environments.

This compact Lomandra fluviatilis grows to around 500mm high and wide, forming neat clumps that make it perfect for mass plantings, borders, paths, rain gardens, bio-retention swales, slopes, green walls, and even rooftop gardens. Its foliage stays clean and vibrant, with minimal browning, providing long-lasting visual appeal throughout the year.

Shara Blue™ is especially known for its resistance to wet soils and Phytophthora disease, a rare trait in landscape grasses. It also performs well in drought and frost, making it suitable for diverse Australian climates—from humid Queensland to cold Canberra.

In spring, Ozbreed’s Shara Blue™ puts on a display of golden-yellow flowers, which contrast beautifully against the blue-toned foliage, adding seasonal interest and a burst of colour to any setting.

Best planted at a density of 4–6 plants per m², this Ozbreed Lomandra thrives in full sun to part shade, and adapts well to a variety of soil types, including wet or soggy conditions. Establishment care includes regular watering for the first 8–13 weeks, followed by occasional pruning and optional fertilising in spring. It can also be cut back throughout the year if needed, but it’s best to avoid this during summer in hot regions.

With its balance of toughness and visual elegance, Shara Blue™ Lomandra is a highly versatile and reliable solution for sustainable grassy landscape design.
