Savanna Blue™ Lomandra from Ozbreed is a compact, low-growing ornamental grass that makes an excellent choice for borders, edging, and ground cover in modern gardens. Its fine texture and striking blue foliage create a strong visual contrast, making it a standout in landscape designs. Compared to other blue foliage confertifolia types, this Lomandra performs particularly well in wetter conditions, giving it greater versatility and reliability.
Reaching around 300mm high and 300mm wide, Savanna Blue™ Lomandra is ideal for smaller spaces or mass plantings. For best results, plant 6–12 grasses per square metre or 4–6 per linear metre, depending on the desired effect. This hardy Lomandra suits a wide range of garden uses, from feature plantings in specimen gardens to large-scale landscaping projects.
Savanna Blue™ thrives in full sun to part shade and tolerates drought and frost once established. It adapts to many soil types, though in humid regions like Sydney, free-draining soils are preferred. This Ozbreed grass is tough yet stylish, offering a practical solution for both residential and commercial gardens.
Care is simple: water regularly for the first 8–13 weeks until established, then only during extreme dry periods. Mulch well with chunky mulch, ensuring the crown is not buried under soil or mulch. A slow-release fertiliser in spring will encourage strong growth, and trimming older leaves will keep the plant tidy. For long-term maintenance, cut the clump back by half every 3–7 years, with pruning every 3 years giving the best overall appearance.
